Nanoporous Metal-Based Green and Low-Carbon Technologies

Addressing the urgent demand for efficient energy utilization and conversion, Professor Yi Ding's team has developed core electrode and catalyst technologies based on original innovations in three-dimensional porous metallic materials, and has proposed green electricity-driven chemical production as a new paradigm for renewable energy utilization.

Nanoporous metals combine metallic structural merits—high strength, high electrical/thermal conductivity, and processability—with exceptional catalytic, sensing, and photoelectric functionalities, as well as light weight and material efficiency. They are well suited to large-scale electricity–chemical energy coupling technologies such as water electrolysis, fuel cells, and energy storage batteries. Building on this, the team has achieved breakthroughs in hydrogen energy electrodes and devices, wide-temperature-range long-endurance batteries, green chemical catalysts, and flexible touch displays.
